1. About these terms

By creating an account or using Vytal, you agree to these terms. How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Vytal.

2. Your account

  • Age: you need to be at least 13. If you're younger than 16, or younger than the age at which you can consent to data processing where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
  • Your details: use a real email address and keep your password to yourself. If you sign in with Google or Apple, keeping that account secure keeps yours secure too.
  • One person, one account: your account is for you alone. You're responsible for what happens in it, so tell us if you think someone else has got in.
  • The connector address: the address that lets an AI assistant read your account is a password. Keep it to yourself, replace it in Settings if it gets out, and remember that what an assistant does with what it reads is between you and whoever runs it.
  • Paired watches: a watch you pair acts on your account, so pair only your own. If it's lost or you give it away, sign out on the watch; deleting your account signs out every watch.

3. Not medical advice

Vytal helps you keep track of what you eat. Its targets, nutrition values and explanations are estimates for healthy adults. They're not medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and they don't replace a doctor or a registered dietitian.

Nutrition values come from reference data and food labels. Real food varies with brand, recipe and preparation, so treat the numbers as close, not exact.

Vytal also helps you plan and record training. Its plans, exercise instructions and suggested loads are general information for healthy adults, not coaching or physiotherapy. Training can injure you: you choose what to lift and how hard to push, so warm up, keep your form, and stop if something hurts. Ask a doctor first if you are pregnant, recovering from an injury or illness, or have a condition that exercise affects.

Heart rate, energy and heart rate zones come from your watch's sensors and from general formulas, including a maximum heart rate estimated from your age; sleep, resting heart rate and heart rate variability come from whatever band, watch or app saved them in Apple Health or Health Connect, and the recovery verdict is worked out from them. All of these are estimates for following your training, not medical measurements. Vytal isn't a medical device and mustn't be used to diagnose, monitor or treat a condition.

Talk to a doctor or dietitian before changing how you eat if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition, take medication that your diet affects, are under 18, or have or have had an eating disorder.

Never delay medical care because of something the app shows. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

4. AI features

Scanning a meal or a label, the explanations and recaps, and workout summaries are produced automatically by an AI service. It can misread a photo, misjudge a portion, mistake one food for another or misread how a session went. Check the result before you rely on it; anything it fills in, you can always change.

Only scan photos you're allowed to use, and not ones that show other people. What's sent and what's kept is described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Your content

What you enter stays yours: your log, your own foods, saved meals and recipes, notes, weight and body measurements. You allow us to store and process it only as far as needed to run Vytal for you, including keeping it in sync between your devices.

A routine code or link you share carries the plan and nothing else: its name, the exercises, the sets they ask for, the rest between them and any note you wrote on it. Whoever you send it to can see all of that, and a link works for anyone who has it for 7 days, so check what your notes say first. A code or link someone sends you is theirs, not ours, and we don't check what is in it.

Vytal's own content, including the food database, the exercise library, the training plans, the public nutrition, exercise and plan pages, the design and the name, belongs to us. The exercise demonstration clips are licensed to us by someone else, so they can't be copied, re-hosted or redistributed anywhere. You're welcome to share links to any of it.

6. Fair use

Please don't:

  • Use Vytal to break the law or to harm others.
  • Try to get into other people's accounts or into our systems, or get around limits and security checks.
  • Overload the service, or copy its content in bulk, whether with scripts, bots, crawlers or scrapers or by hand. Reading the public pages in a browser is exactly what they're for, and search engines that follow our robots.txt are welcome.
  • Use Vytal's content for text or data mining, or to build or train an AI model or a dataset of your own. We reserve that right expressly, in the sense of Article 4(3) of EU Directive 2019/790.
  • Misuse the contact form or the AI features, for example for spam or for content that has nothing to do with your own eating and training.
  • Resell Vytal, or offer it as part of your own service, without our written permission.

7. The service

Vytal is free to use. If we ever add paid features, we'll tell you what they cost first, and you'll only pay if you choose them.

We keep improving Vytal, so features can be added, changed or removed. When a change affects how you use it, we'll let you know in advance where we reasonably can.

We work hard to keep Vytal running and your data safe, including regular backups, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. If something matters to you, keep your own export.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Account & data. That permanently deletes your data, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you the chance to export your data.

9. Liability

Vytal is provided as it is. We're not responsible for decisions you make based on its numbers, estimates or explanations.

Because Vytal is free, we're only liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence.

None of this limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for injury to life, body or health, or your rights under mandatory consumer protection law.

10. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. For changes that matter, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Vytal and delete your account.

11. Law and disputes

If you use Vytal as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If something goes wrong, please write to us first: most things are quickest to sort out directly.

These terms are available in English, German and Thai. They say the same thing; if a translation is ever unclear, the English version applies.
