Personalized targets

Your starting targets are estimated with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation from your age, height, weight, activity and goal. Override any number whenever you like.

Targets are estimates, not medical advice.

Raw vs. cooked accuracy

100 g of raw chicken and 100 g of cooked chicken are not the same food. Cooking drives out water, so the cooked weight packs noticeably more calories and protein.

Vytal keeps raw and cooked entries separate and labels them clearly, so what you log matches what's actually on your scale.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The short version of how Vytal works and what it does with your data.

  • Yes. Create a free account and start logging right away. There's nothing to install: it runs in your browser on your phone or computer.

  • Vytal estimates your resting energy with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation, multiplies it by your activity level and adjusts for your goal. Protein is set per kilogram of body weight, fat as a share of calories, and carbs fill the rest. Every number is an estimate you can override, not medical advice.

  • Cooking changes a food's weight, mostly by losing or absorbing water. 100 g of cooked chicken breast has about 165 kcal, while 100 g raw has about 120 kcal. Vytal keeps raw and cooked versions separate and asks which one you weighed, so your totals stay accurate.

  • About 400 foods, one clean entry each: lean proteins, smart carbs, dairy, fruit and vegetables, supplements and meal-prep classics, with natural portions and raw or cooked weights. No scrolling through dozens of near-identical variants. You can also add your own foods from a nutrition label, save meals and build recipes.

  • Vytal is designed for phones first and works in any modern browser. Add it to your home screen for a full-screen, app-like experience.

  • Your food log is private to your account, with no public profile or social feed. You can export everything as JSON or CSV, or permanently delete your account and all of its data at any time.
