How to do it

  1. 1Lie on the floor under a bar set low in a rack or on safety pins, with your eyes under the bar and your knees bent or legs straight.
  2. 2Grip the bar a little wider than shoulder-width, squeeze your shoulder blades together and lift the bar out to hold it over your chest.
  3. 3Lower the bar towards your lower chest, elbows about 45 degrees from your body, until your upper arms rest on the floor.
  4. 4Pause briefly with your arms on the floor, without bouncing or letting your body relax.
  5. 5Press the bar straight back up to lockout, then repeat.
