How to do it

  1. 1Lie on a flat bench holding one dumbbell straight up over your shoulder, palm facing toward your feet.
  2. 2Point your elbow out to the side and rest your free hand on your chest or on the working arm for support.
  3. 3Bend the elbow and lower the dumbbell in toward your chest, so your forearm ends up angled across your body.
  4. 4Keep your upper arm still; only the elbow should move.
  5. 5Straighten the elbow to press the dumbbell back up, then finish your reps before switching arms.
