How to do it

  1. 1Lie on your back with your legs straight and your hands flat by your hips or tucked under your glutes for support.
  2. 2Brace your stomach and press your lower back into the floor, then lift both legs off the ground.
  3. 3Raise one leg high while lowering the other towards the floor, then swap them over in a steady scissoring rhythm.
  4. 4Keep your legs long and your lower back flat; keep the legs higher if your back starts to arch.
  5. 5Keep going for the set reps or time without letting either heel touch the floor, then lower both legs to finish.
